I provide consultation, short-term and long-term psychological therapy to help people with their emotional wellbeing,  sexual wellbeing and relationship issues.

I describe myself as a very good generalist for working with adult psychological wellbeing.  Alongside working with adult mental health diffiuclties, I specialised in working with a range of sex related difficulties: vaginismus, dyspareunia, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, anorgasmia, anhedonia, sexual confidence and compulsive sex behaviour.  I have siginifcant experience of working with people who have been sexually assaulted.

I have nine years of experience working in Social Services and the NHS. This includes for three years working in severe and enduring mental health services in South Wales and for three years as Principal Clinical Psychologist in HIV and Sexual Health and also CFS/M.E. at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London.  I have nine years expereince working in private practice.

I am a Clinical Psychologist.

Whilst my training includes skills in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), I have a strong preference for systemic and narrative therapies and  psychodynamic models, as they allow for greater understanding of the complexity of each individual situation and increases skills in formulating ways to understand and address potential barriers to change.  I am trained in EMDR and this is typically my preferred therapy to address unprocessed trauma.  I have a foundation qualification in group analysis and run groups to help people address shame and learn about relationships.

I have additional specialist experience in working and supporting with people who live with medically unexplained experience such as CFS/M.E.  and chronic pain.  This includes specific knoweldge of PACE.   I typically work in these areas to support relationshiops and manage stress rather than just assume psychogenic origin.  I am happy to provide psychological support to individuals, couples and families living with these difficulties.

I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health Professions Council  (HPC)

I have lots of experience working with same-sex, transgender and alternative couples.  Individuals, couples and families from all genders and sexualities are welcome.

Having spent several years working in specialist HIV units I have a good knowledge of working with people living with HIV and welcome anyone living with HIV as an individual, couple or family.
